Posted by on Dec 15, 2010 in AIDS Walk NY Campaign, Blog, Panel | 0 comments

In the 15 days leading to 2011, Medical Relief Alliance, Inc. wants to introduce you to the families that will greatly benefit from your monetary support for the Goat Hope Project. There are many other families still waiting to participate in MRA’s Goat Hope project, but need your continual support. Your gift that can be made safely and securely at www.mra-africa.org will enable us to purchase two dairy goats for a family of 6-8 members affected by HIV/AIDS. Your donation will help purchase goats which provide milk which improves the nutrition of the family while also establishing a path to financial independence through sales of surplus milk. Because of your help in 2009 and 2010, the families we supported, representing almost 40 children, women and men affected with HIV/AIDS, almost 70% of these families have increased their goat herds by 30% of the original gift subsequently increasing their income tremendously. The average family survives on $500 annually before participating in our goat project. After participating in our goat project for 12-18months, the average beneficiary family increases their income from $500 to $1,500 annually through sales of the goat milk! Your donation of at least $5 has the exponential capacity to transform lives in Kenya, one family at a time. Please visit our website to see how you can donate. Website:...

Your donation of $5 thus has the exponential capacity to transform lives in Kenya, one family at a time. This is the Narkumuran family. A few years ago, Ms. Narkumuran’s husband lost his battle to HIV/AIDS and left behind his wife (Nangea) and 5 children (Lekakeny, Pain, Nolari, Simon & Lepore). Besides the challenges of single parenthood, Nangea is also HIV positive and also nursing Lepore who was born HIV positive. Albeit, the struggles, Nangea remains optimistic that life circumstances will soon change and that she can live behind a safety net for her children in the event the disease takes a toll on her health. For this reason, she is very active in a community based project that interfaces with Medical Relief Alliance’s goat project. Nangea is patiently awaiting her two dairy goats that will be delivered a week from today. She knows that the milk from the goats will be extremely important for Lepore’s diet and the surplus that remains, useful in selling and purchasing antiretroviral medication that would prolong her life and Lepore’s as well. Prior to the challenges life presented to the Narkumuran’s family, Nangea who is talented in handicraft, had to halt her beadwork which was renowned in the village. She hopes someday that she can have enough resources to revive her passion and perhaps turn this into a business venture that can supplement their family income. On behalf of the Narkumuran family, that you for your...
